MEN'S MEMBER GUEST

Please join us for the annual Men’s Member Guest Golf Tournament October 25, 26 and 27, 2018.   Invite your guest and his spouse for a weekend of camaraderie, golf and Kiawah beauty.  The tournament format is round robin match play within each flight, followed by a modified shootout to determine the overall champion. This year there will again be a “Kiawah” flight where all players play from the Kiawah tees and a "Championship" flight where teams play from the Course Name tees (Osprey/Cougar).  The weekend kicks off with a reception at Osprey Point and finishes with an awards dinner in the Grand Oaks Ballroom at The Sanctuary. We hope you will join us for another great weekend at Kiawah.

 

The activities included in the entry fee:

  • Three nine-hole matches with cart at Osprey Point on Friday, October 26
  • Two nine-hole matches with cart at Cougar Point on Saturday, October 27
  • Shootout for flight winners Saturday, October 27 on holes 1,2 and 18 at Cougar Point
  • Snacks, soft drinks, and beer on the course Friday and Saturday
  • Boxed lunch on-course for players Friday and Saturday
  • Welcome buffet dinner at Osprey Point Thursday evening, with open bar and pari-mutuel betting for all participants and spouses
  • Reception and Awards Dinner Saturday evening at the Grand Oaks Ballroom at The Sanctuary for all participants and spouses
  • Tee gifts including Titleist Ball fitting held on October 25.
  • Hole-In-One Awards
  • Pelican Awards and Prizes
  • Rounds count for member rounds, not guest rounds

 

Optional Activities

  • Practice round on Thursday, October 25 at The Ocean Course ($185 per team), or at Osprey Point or Cougar Point with cart ($60 per team). Please indicate your starting time and course preference on the enclosed entry form.We will try to place everyone at their preferred time.The first registrants will be given preference. (Walking caddie $100 recommended gratuity per bag at The Ocean Course).
  • Dogfights during the practice round, all courses, $20 per team. Format: Team Best Net
  • Modified pari-mutuel betting on Thursday evening at Osprey Point
  • Ladies Program
    Golf- Thursday, October 25 at 11:30 am at Osprey Point. Best Net. $160 per team (one member and one guest). Each player must have a USGA handicap index.
    Ladies Program, Friday, October 26. Cooking demo TBD. $35 per person includes demo, lunch and wine.

Tournament Flights

  • Teams will be assigned flights in advance according to combined USGA index
  • Flights consist of six teams each
  • Each team plays five nine-hole, Four-Ball matches, within their flight
  • Each flight winner receives the traditional Pelican trophy
  • Prizes are presented to the top two places in each flight
  • Prizes are awarded to the team in each flight with the most points on the second day (excludes winner or runner-up teams)
  • The flight winners advance to the shootout to determine the overall winner
  • Play is from the Fazio or Player tees except for the Championship & Kiawah Flight
    Championship Flight
  • All players in the flight must play from the Osprey or Cougar tees
  • If fewer than six teams are signed up, all players will play from the Fazio or Player tees and be flighted based on combined team handicap with Regular flight teams.
    Kiawah Flight
  • All players in the flight must play from the Kiawah tees
  • At least four teams must sign up for the Kiawah flight
  • If fewer than six teams are signed up, the balance of matches will be against par

 

Format

  • Four-Ball Match Play (best ball of each team)
  • 100% handicap, stroked off the low ball
  • 1 point is awarded for each hole won
  • ˝ point is awarded for halved holes

 

Handicaps

  • All participants must have a valid USGA handicap index in order to compete in the tournament

Titleist Golf Ball Fitting

  • All players playing practice rounds at the Ocean Course will have a ball fitting scheduled 45 minutes prior to their tee time.
  • All  players who do NOT have a practice round at the Ocean Course will have a ball fitting in the afternoon at Osprey Point. 

Entry Requirements

  • The first 36 applications in the regular flights and the first 6 entries in the Championship Flight and 6 entries in the Kiawah Flight will be accepted.  To be eligible, you must be a Governor’s Club golf member and a member of the KMGA.
  • Please indicate your course and starting time preference on the entry form. We will attempt to honor all tee time requests, with first registrants having preference.  You and your guest will receive a tournament booklet including a schedule of events, match play format and rules at registration.
  • Sign up online (below).  Your Governor’s Club account will be billed for the entry fee of $1075 and any optional activities selected.
  • The entry deadline is August 31, 2018. Entries will be accepted in the order they are received.
